Walmart Chile trained SMEs: Several will begin selling in its supermarkets.

, by Alejandro Lezcano, 1 min reading time

Walmart Chile, the parent company of Lider supermarkets, has been implementing initiatives to boost the development of one of the hardest-hit sectors during the pandemic: small and medium-sized businesses. To that end, the company is promoting the Potencia Pyme program.
This is a distance learning program developed in conjunction with the Independízate Foundation, which resulted in the certification of 44 startups from across the country. Of these, 20% will add their products to the company's supermarkets from Arica to Punta Arenas. For five months, the selected SMEs participated in intensive training led by the MBA UC Mentor network. Together with executives from Walmart Chile's commercial area, they trained and selected the applicants at the various stages of the process. Each startup received a total of 51 hours of advice, through eight classes, six discussions, and nine mentoring sessions. The objective was to strengthen the value proposition of these businesses so that they can become suppliers to Walmart Chile in the future and thus sell their products in more than 350 stores nationwide.
